Our History

Open Bible Baptist Church was formed in 2002 with a core group of families and individuals desiring to see another gospel lighthouse along the shores of Lake Michigan.  Prior to this date many churches sent groups to Manitowoc over the years winning souls to Christ and trying to organize the people under a man willing to pastor this a new flock.  First Bible Baptist Church of Green Bay, Wisconsin under the leadership of Pastor Harley Keck was consistently involved in many of these efforts over the years attempting to train a man to lead the church, providing men to fill the pulpit consistently, and organizing the finances of several church starts that struggled to produce fruit that remained.

In 2000 the King James Bible Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Chris Huff sent their youth pastor, Roger Harrison, with their teens to encourage the people of the True Vine Baptist Church of Manitowoc, Wisconsin by organizing a vacation Bible school at the invitation of Pastor Harley Keck.  Shortly thereafter Roger Harrison answered the call to pastor and moved with his family to Manitowoc Wisconsin in July of 2001.  Doors began to open immediately with families and individuals eager to become an organized body of believers.  Shortly thereafter the church location was moved, the church incorporated in the state of Wisconsin, and the name changed to reflect an end to previously troubling times and a new beginning of hope.  We are grateful to all who labored in this field before us and are privileged to reap where they have sown.
